Games for this Sunday

For those of you attending game night on Sundays, I just wanted to say that our rounds of Monkey Ninja Pirate Robot for the past two weeks have been quite entertaining for me. I hope you’ve enjoyed it as well. For those that missed it, there’s probably only two things to know. First, Daryl and I are in competition with each other in the game (or should I say, were, that’s the second point). Second, Ashley swooped in last time, having never played, and won both rounds.

This Sunday, I eyeing either Marines vs. Zombies or Ship of the Line. Both are independent releases from FJGaming, which is basically one guy in England. I’ve got MvZ assembled already, and Crista and I will likely assemble “Ship” this weekend. I’ve already learned the rules for MvZ, and trust me, it isn’t hard. They fit on one sheet, in fact. So don’t let the “46 pages” part throw you off.

Hope to see you there. Or do I mean “here”. Well, you know what I mean.

MGS (-G) #3

I’m modifying Sunday nights a bit. This Sunday, we’re going to plan for games only. Well, we’ve done that pretty much every time anyway. Also, we’ll start by 8, and it’s eat first or bring your own food.

Hope to see you there!

24 Tonight

The TV schedulers have blessed us with not one but two new episodes of 24 tonight. We’ll start around 8:40ish, so that through the miracle of PVR we can skip all commercials!

MSG #1 wrapup, looking forward to #2

Thanks to all who showed up last night. I had a lot of fun and am glad you could show up.

As for next week, we still have the same movie in store as I’d planned for this week. I forgot the Oscars were on and it sucked us in instead. Also, I will startup the video games again next week, but as the host I will be participating in some kind of board or other table top game. Got to keep the playtime balanced!

See you next Sunday.

MGS1

Or, Movie Game Sunday 1.

Show up at my place around 6-6:30. We’ll order pizza and start the movie between 6:30-7. Games after.

See you there. Bring some bucks for pizza or bring some beer. Email me if you need directions.

Movie & Game Sundays

Crista and I have decided to try and put together movie & game night for Friday Thursday or Sunday nights. I love hanging out with friends, but have been spending so much on restaurants and movies lately, I thought it would be nice to lower the costs. Here’s the plan as it stands.

We’ll be watching old movies, either classics or b-movie horror stuff. The idea is to keep it light and silly. First up is the 7th Voyage of Sinbad. The special creature fx were done by Ray Harryhausen, who was one of a kind. He was really a pioneer of stop-motion model effects. Most of you have probably seen his work in Clash of the Titans. It’s not great by any modern standards, but he was the forerunner to the modern greats. I think some of the original Lucas model work wouldn’t have come about were it not for him.

Games after. We can split up for board and/or gamecube games. Mario Strikers is a current 4-player favorite. Trust me, even if you don’t like video games that much, you’ll love this.

I’m thinking we can order pizza for the first one. Chip in, and bring some beer if you like. Comment if you’re interested in coming this Friday Thursday or Sunday.

Update: Though I’m planning for Fridays, I can probably be compelled for any night Thursday through Sunday. I know lots of my friends play music on the weekend.

Update: Since Daryl is somebody I’d like there, this will occur either Sunday or Thursday nights. Place votes.

Update: Looks like Sundays it is! Thanks for the feedback. I will post a time and details for this Sunday. I expect we can start around 6 or 7.
