What’s going on

I figured I’d just bullet point random happenings for the past couple weeks.

  • I successfully flew to and from Oklahoma City and experience nothing remotely like a panic attack. A few nerves, sure, but nothing bad.
  • I’ve gone to St. Matthew’s Anglican Catholic Church a couple more times. They have an inquirer’s group running now. I’m not attending but going through the material from the classes.
  • Crista and I started playing a game of Breaking the Ice. We’re 1/3 done. Fun, hard, fresh, and creative so far. I’ll probably do a write-up if I can remember everything.
  • I’m still looking into starting a game club.
  • I’m going to have to seriously tweak my blog frontpage, as the MySQL slowness is killing it.
  • I got geekdome + 1 by running my very first game ever. It was a session of Savage Worlds played online, and it was lots of fun.

Of Fears, Phobias, and Wings

So Friday, I’m flying for the first time. The first time since 1993.

Why have I not flown in so long? Simple, I let it terrify me.

I can’t live with such limitations for life. How many fun opportunities have I passed up before because of this fear? I’ve lost count. But now, one of Crista’s best friends is getting married in Oklahoma City this Saturday. I certainly don’t want to ditch out on that.

So I had my first travelocity experience. Car, planes, hotel, all supposedly lined up. I don’t worry about any of that. Just about being in the air. I think I can handle it this time. I’m older, and in far better control of my emotions.

Plus, I bought a PSP to distract myself.

Fingers crossed.

Sleep Diving

OK, so this morning I had a really bizarre dream. I can’t remember all the details, but at the end, somebody tricked me and led me into this dirt area that was filled with land mines. So for what seemed like hours in the dream, I sat there on a supposedly primed set of landmines, afraid to move. Then I noticed that other people were walking through the supposed mine field and even over triggers without errors. So, I decided I was going to quickly dive in a direction and make it behind a nearby wall. I felt such trepidation, in the dream, I mean.

Now, all dream symbolism aside, which I’m sure is really cool, but, here is the really REALLY cool part. I have never done something like this before. So, in my dream, I dive out of the way. Well, in real life, I wake up rolling on the floor, banging into my guitar case and part of the wall. That’s right, I actually dove off my bed and rolled onto the ground. It’s a wonder I didn’t hurt myself. But I sure was startled.

So ya, um, that was really weird.
