New Music

I picked up the album Castaways & Cutouts by The Decemberists off EMusic. It’s pretty darn good. So far I like tracks 1 and 3 the best.

I took the EMusic 50 downloads trial and have scored some other good music so far. I finally picked up The Fire Theft from them, which I’ve been meaning to get for a while. Can’t beat free (and legal), can you?

Does eMusic have any sort of restrictive DRM?

Nope, you get plain old mp3 files. They just tell you not to share. It’s great. I wish their service was like before though, when you could download more than you could count (they said unlimited, but they capped it at a few thousand) for like $10 a month. It was cool to subscribe to every so often. Download for a month or two, unsubscribe, wait for some more music, subscribe again. I got my moneys worth.

the only problem with emusic is they don’t have a whole lot of ‘known’ stuff. so you have to have the time and money to explore bands/music you’ve never heard before.

Hey, don’t you have time? Aren’t you snowed in yet?
