How to get banned from del.icio.us
I just came across a cool idea on using plucker to read del.icio.us entries offline. The idea is, you mark entries with a read-review tag, then use plucker to pull down the feed and 1 level deep of link data. This way, you can review pages away from your computer if you have downtime.
Now when I visit del.icio.us, I’m greeted by the following message, “Sorry, you have been banned for 30 minutes.”
Oops.

Plucker is an awesome program. When I had a sony clie I used it all the time. I read most of Moby Dick on that tiny monochrome screen using plucker. There’s a port for pocket pc, but when I tried it it didn’t work so well. I use AvantGo now, but it’s not as good.

It’s a website you can keep bookmarks on. It’s keeps your bookmarks in the public, not private though. You can also subscribe to other peoples lists of bookmarks, or bookmarks with a certain keyword tag. For example, you could subscribe to bookmarks tagged with the word “soccer” and you del.icio.us would have every bookmark saved to the system with the keyword.
I like it because I can keep track of my bookmarks anywhere without having software to keep things in sync between different browsers.
For example, you can see my bookmarks at http://del.icio.us/xternal

Ahh ok…good idea, that way (like with any webmail system) you can access it from any compter.

What about using Isilo. I know if costs $$$ but you could just grab the page directly from the browser, if you had the desktop version installed

I think I could probably get plucker working if I tried a little harder. Haven’t looked at iSilo before though, I’ll give it a look. I think it’s Windows only though, right?
