Google Maps

Google maps now works in Safari (that’s the Mac webbrowser for those that don’t know).

New Music

I picked up the album Castaways & Cutouts by The Decemberists off EMusic. It’s pretty darn good. So far I like tracks 1 and 3 the best.

I took the EMusic 50 downloads trial and have scored some other good music so far. I finally picked up The Fire Theft from them, which I’ve been meaning to get for a while. Can’t beat free (and legal), can you?

Bowling

Crista and I went bowling on Saturday. We split winning games this time out. I think she had her highest scoring game ever.

iMac

After enjoying OSX on a Mac Mini, but realizing it was too slow to work as my main workstation, I upgraded to a 20″ iMac. I looked at dual processor towers, but felt I couldn’t justify the processing power for the price right now. I’m not going to be doing anything rigorous on it right now. I’m just planning to use it for run of the mill internet and photo work. It’s remarkably faster than the Mini, which is not surprising. It’s a G5 vs. G4 processor, plus the bus is at 600mhz rather than 147 or so. I also bumped the memory up an additional 1GB, so it’s not starving at 256MB.

The short of it is, I love it. It’s like having the media functionality I had with windows (actually, it’s better) plus the command line an unix goodness I’m used to on my linux boxes.

New Favorite Quote

My new favorite quote is from Epictetus. It’s from about 200AD.

People are disturbed not by things but by the view they take of them.

How to get banned from del.icio.us

I just came across a cool idea on using plucker to read del.icio.us entries offline. The idea is, you mark entries with a read-review tag, then use plucker to pull down the feed and 1 level deep of link data. This way, you can review pages away from your computer if you have downtime.

Now when I visit del.icio.us, I’m greeted by the following message, “Sorry, you have been banned for 30 minutes.”

Oops.
