Meatless Sunday

I managed to pack 3 meat substitute products into meals today. Even for me, that’s a lot. Hopefully not an unhealthly “a lot”. At lunch, it was soy imitation ground beef, with dinner, ground quorn, and tofu in miso soup as a late night snack.

You’d be surprised how much ground up vat grown mushrooms can taste like meat. No, really.

Damenzu What?

Actually, it’s the Damenzu Walker, otherwise know as a “loser detector”. Wow, a toy with AI can tell you if somebody was a loser. And I thought intuition was enough.

New toy

It’s cold here. I’m outside the Starbucks at Culver and Irvine Blvd. Figured it would be good to get out of the house.

Obviously my new laptop came today. It’s pretty sweet. It feels more sturdy than Inspirons I’ve used in the past, and the lcd is a knockout. I get net access via the T-Mobile hotspot service. If you know me, and you know anything about wireless, this should come as a shock. The access is totally unencrypted, and creates a boatload of privacy concerns. For now, I’m slamming my website traffic through an encrypted ssh tunnel. Might have to go for the old vpn setup. Argh, was hoping to avoid that.

Aren’t I just the sucker for tech?

And now I’m hungry, and Starbucks just closed. I think it’s time to go.

Off to Huntington

Running late to make it to the Huntington Beach NPPL season opener. Fortunately (I think) I’m not playing!

Easily, the match of the day will be Avalanche vs. Dynasty. Not only do these guys know each other and their respective games well, but they are two of the best teams out there. I’m giddy.

The Real OC

The city of Aliso Viejo was considering banning foam cups because of a report that they were made from dihydrogen monoxide. Wow.

Siemens S65 Pics

Mobileburn has photos of the forthcoming Siemens S65 phone. That thing looks sweet.

32MB onboard, 1.3MP camera. I bet we’ll never see it here.
