Sacked by SMS

South Korea’s third largest credit agency laid of 25% of it work force Friday via SMS. Talk about inappropriate procedure!

Textually.org has references to previous SMS sackings as well. So I guess people really do hate conflict.

Geolocation tags

So I stumbled across two connected sites of interest last week. GeoURL and localfeeds.com seek to provide a simple mechanism for throwing geographic coordinates onto a webpage. A point of course being, to find owners or operators of sites within a certain area. It’s really a novelty at this stage, but someday it might pay off.

You can click on the GeoURL button on the right hand side to find sites tied to people in my vicinity. Of course, too bad for now it’s flooded mostly by DeviantArt sites.

AIM via SMS

Thanks to Will at work for pointing out that you can use AOL Instant messenger via SMS on your cell phone. I found the user guide for my provider, too.

Sure it’s cumbersome, but it may be handy someday.

Is it hot in here?

You know what one of the of problems with working on a day like President’s Day is? It’s when the building you are working in is closed. Sure, you can get in, but guess what, the air is off. I’m afraid we’re all starting to smell here.

Tired, Unmotivated

I woke up fully planning to play paintball today. It just isn’t going to pan out. There’s something to be said for the motivation it takes to drag yourself out of bed and then go get shot at. Especially on a Sunday, as you tend to get shot at more.

It doesn’t help that yesterday I almost lost my temper a few times. What started as a good morning turned into a not so great afternoon. Always the proper makings for a contemplative drive home (in traffic, no less).

So today, I’ve convinced myself to do something productive. Maybe clean my room and car. Ah yes, more motivation needed…

Demographic = bitter

At this moment, CNN is airing a an hour program entitiled “Infidelity”. Yes, as in cheating in relationships.

Could they be any more obvious in indicating who’s at home watching TV on Feb. 14?

Full of lots of discussions of lack of monogamy in the animal kingdom. Right people, we are no different than animals. Let’s keep feeding on that idea and forget marriage, right?
